Faculty Employment Opportunities

The University Of Texas Medical Branch School Of Nursing invites creative, goal directed candidates to join our exceptional faculty in leading edge nursing education.

At the UTMB Health School of Nursing, we are well known for our commitment to innovation, the aptitude of our graduates, and our wonderful history of accomplishments. As pioneers in the field of nursing education, we are proudly the first school of nursing in the State of Texas and the first in the United States west of the Mississippi. We were the first to educate masters degree prepared nurse practitioners in Texas, and the first to offer on-line graduate nursing education.

Our students benefit from the best in clinical experiences via placements throughout the greater Galveston and Houston communities. Additionally, our state of the art Nursing Inter-professional Simulation Center utilizes high fidelity technology to educate our students in the teamwork, critical thinking, and clinical skills crucial to the delivery of modern health care.

UTMB, located just east of historical downtown on Galveston Island, is a world class medical and research facility with a rich history of academic excellence. Notably, our campus provides cutting edge research on infectious diseases and vaccine development through The Galveston National Laboratory, is home to the Sealy Center for Aging, and has been awarded funding through the Clinical Translational Science Awards (CTSA).

We are currently seeking faculty candidates with experience in the medical/surgical and obstetrics specialties, and family nurse practitioners. On-line teaching positions at the master’s level are available and require a minimum of two days per week on campus. Also, tenure track positions with a program of research are available. Qualified candidates should be licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Texas and possess a Master of Science in Nursing or a commensurate degree; doctoral (PhD or DNP) degree and prior teaching experience are preferred.

UTMB Health School of Nursing is currently inviting applications for full time faculty positions in the Nursing PhD program. Qualified candidates will have teaching experience at the university level, clinical experience in their specialty area, a program of research and demonstrated leadership skills. An earned doctoral degree is required at the doctoral level. Applications for part-time positions are available at the Baccalaureate, Master, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree levels.

Interested qualified individuals should send a letter of interest intent and a current curriculum vitae to Dean Dr. Pamela G. Watson, Dean, RN ScD, at pgwatson@utmb.edu.

We hope you will consider joining us. Together, we will work wonders in nursing education.
