Dr. Kilgore received a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing degree from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She received her Master of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University with a role specialization in nursing education.

Areas of Research, Teaching , And Clinical Expertise and Scholarship

Dr. Kilgore has a research interest in interprofessional healthcare teams and team development. The title of her dissertation was The Association Between Interdisciplinary Team Development and Patient Length of Stay. Dr. Kilgore has many years of practice experience in critical care nursing with a specialty in cardiovascular nursing. In addition, Dr. Kilgore has many years of experience in leadership positions in both quaternary practice and academic settings. Her experience as a nurse educator has been at the graduate level and at the undergraduate level for baccalaureate students, RN to BSN students, and associate degree students. Dr. Kilgore has diverse publications on clinical topics, interprofessional teams, and the use of simulation in undergraduate nursing education.

Courses Taught

Dr. Kilgore has taught undergraduate nursing courses on subjects including critical care, leadership and management, preceptorship, child health, and medical-surgical nursing. She has also taught nursing administration graduate level courses on role development, healthcare technology, and administration practicum.

Selected Accomplishments

Dr. Kilgore has received awards in practice and academic settings. She has been nominated for the Good Samaritan and Daisy Award. Dr. Kilgore was selected by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses to serve as an expert reviewer for the Beacon Award. Dr. Kilgore has been part of two teams who received the Faculty Development Innovation in Teaching Award from the Texas Organization of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Education.
