The NursingCAS enrollment process offers the prospective students the ability to input information and required documents in one convenient location; you can save information and complete the application according to your time schedule.

Baccalaureate Application

Admission Decisions

After the NCAS applications are received and processed, the School of Nursing Admission Committee will review your file. BSN applicants may require an interview. Once your UTMB Supplemental Application is submitted, it typically takes 4-6 weeks or more for a decision to be made. Please refer to the Approximate Application Timeline for more details.


Key Items

Confirm all transcripts are received and posted by checking Quick Status through Nursing CAS. Missing transcripts are noted in many denied applications. Your application cannot be considered without transcripts.

BSN Only:

  • Complete at least 40 of the 60 required prerequisites prior to application (BSN applicants). You must complete all prerequisite requirements prior to enrollment.
  • Grades for courses in progress are not typically received prior to finalizing admission decisions. Conditional admission may be granted with the provision that all GPA requirements are met and final grades have been received (BSN applicants).
  • It is your responsibility to confirm all admission requirements are met and that all coursework (including scheduled courses) is posted for proper evaluation of the application. Applications will not be forwarded to UTMB if deficient or incomplete (BSN applicants).

International Students

Applicants whose tertiary-level education has been completed at international institutions, or applicants who will be attending on an F-1 Visa, must meet the following requirements, in addition to providing the credentials for their prospective program

  1. Applicants whose tertiary-level education has been completed at international institutions must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) if the native language is not English. A minimum satisfactory score on the TOEFL is a computer score of 83 or 6.5 for the IELTS.
  2. Submit a course by course verified/attested evaluation of all foreign coursework. Evaluations must be obtained through one of the three credentialing services approved by UTMB. Additional information can be found on the Office of Enrollment Services website or by calling (409) 772-1215.

It is important that the international student apply well in advance of the anticipated term of enrollment in order to have enough time, if accepted for admission, to secure a student visa and make travel arrangements to UTMB.


International Applicants

  • Online Curriculum: Regulation preclude internationals students who have VISAs for educational purposes from participating in academic programs that are conducted entirely via the Internet. Applicants are advised to review the curriculum for their anticipated program.
