Selected Accomplishments

Worked 5 years in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Urology as staff nurse, assistant head nurse, and special procedure's nurse. Worked for 10 years as staff nurse, assistant director, and as nursing director of the Inpatient/Outpatient Hematology/Oncology Department at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. In 1992, transferred to Information Services as the nursing liaison for clinical system implementation and has been certified in nursing informatics since 1997. Began teaching career in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Galveston College as the Charles Eric and Octavia Hall Professor in Galveston, Texas in 1999. There she taught general nursing including pediatrics and informatics courses. In August 2004, became a member of the faculty at University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing.
