UTMB Grants for Lunch Series
Noon to 1:00 p.m. - 2nd Tuesday of the month
Research Services and the Institute for Translational Science, funded in part by NIH grant UL1RR029876, are pleased to co-sponsor a Grants-for-Lunch program for the purpose of developing the grantsmanship skills of UTMB faculty and fellows, and to promote networking within our research community. Please bring your lunch and join us. Informal, interactive discussions cover grant writing and research program management with a primary focus on NIH funding. These sessions are led by experienced research faculty and research administrators, who make a short presentation on the given topic, then open the session for questions and answers. UTMB Grants Management Roundtable
9:30 - 10:30 a.m. - 2nd Thursday of the month
Grants Management Roundtable is designed to assist with grants administration questions and changes and to promote networking within the UTMB research community. Roundtables will feature participation from all aspects of sponsored programs, with the sessions designed to highlight best practices in sponsored program administration throughout the lifecycle of the grant. The roundtable will feature speakers from central research offices, departmental research administrators as well as other individuals involved in research administration. Administrators and grant coordinators are encouraged to attend and participate. You may email your questions or suggested topics of discussion to research.education@utmb.edu or to submit questions anonymously, send them to Research Education, Route 0156.

Virtual and In-Person Activities
RISE Center Write Club
Dedicated time on a virtual platform to focus on goal-directed writing projects for 2-hr blocks of time with a short discussion/trouble-shooting break at the end. Contact the RISE Center Office to sign up for the next session.
RISE Center Half-Baked Sessions
Half-Baked Sessions allow for group brainstorming where attendees can talk through potential grant and paper ideas with a diverse set of interdisciplinary colleagues at various levels of career and life experience. Contact the RISE Center Office to sign up for the next session.
RISE Center Mock Review
Mock Review Sessions provide feedback from reviewers before you submit the grant to the sponsor for review. Draft of grant proposal given to a group of experienced and inexperienced grant reviewers that critique your study design and provide feedback on your application based on NIH review criteria. Contact the RISE Center Office to sign up for the next session. The grant will need to be submitted at least 2 months prior to the submission deadline to find reviewers.
RISE Center 8-min Mixer Sessions (in-person only)
Similar to a speed dating format, the 8-min Mixer allows for in-person one-on-one chats with potential collaborators outside of your department/field intended to stimulate new potential collaborations. Contact the RISE Center Office to sign up for the next session.
