Mission

The mission of the Research Innovation and Scientific Excellence (RISE) Center at UTMB is to support and facilitate the development of nurse scientists and their research.

Vision

The Vision of the Research Innovation and Scientific Excellence (RISE) Center is to be a leader in research that optimizes health across the spectrum, from discovery to translation.

Goals of the RISE Center

  • Foster a sustainable culture of scholarship
  • Recruit and retain outstanding research faculty, staff, students, and trainees
  • Develop a supportive infrastructure that will position UTMB as a leader in nursing science and its translation
  • Facilitate interprofessional research collaboration
  • Focus on targeted research clusters of excellence for growth
  • Strengthen research support mechanisms, including coaching, professional development, and succession in planning
  • Maximize student research and scholarship through mentorship

Services Provided by the RISE Center

  • Consulting with faculty and students regarding internal and external grant funding opportunities
  • Coordinating the preparation of materials for internal and external grant applications with the grants' compliance analyst
  • Mentoring junior and pre-tenured faculty members to facilitate the development and implementation of their programs of research
  • Consulting and recommending opportunities for faculty and students to disseminate their research
  • Coordinating interdisciplinary research collaborations between SON faculty, other departments, and community stakeholders
  • Statistical support for faculty and students, including grant preparation, presentations, and published scholarly works
