Experience

I have been an Orthopedic Surgery specialist as a surgical nurse at John Sealy Hospital since my graduation from UTMB. This experience has allowed me to acquire the skills necessary for successful Inter-collaboration of professionals including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing homes, and other professionals to ensure and maintain the best patient outcomes throughout the patient's care process. I have also served as the primary preceptor for orthopedic surgeries as nurse educator to nursing students, medical students and new nurses to the field of surgical nursing and orientation of new hires to the operating room. As a part of my nursing education, I have gained skills in Leadership.

Prior to my nursing career, I was the executive director of Gulf Coast Child Nutrition Program. This program was a non-profit federally funded program dedicated to ensuring children in Texas Licensed and Registered Day Care Homes were provided nutritious meals as governed by the federal regulations. This program also required participants to attend monthly and annual educational meetings based on topics such as nutrition, program compliance, and civil rights.
