Areas of Research, Teaching, And Clinical Expertise and Scholarship

My research area is quality of care and patient safety for older adults with a focus on addressing the needs of people with dementia and their family caregivers (e.g., preventing falls/fractures, the effects of the Medicare annual wellness visit policy on care outcomes; using archived hospital data, Medicare and post-acute-care data, interviews, focus group meetings, or surveys).

I use quantitative and/or qualitative methods to answer my research questions as appropriate. I also engage patient/caregiver partners, clinicians, and policy makers in my research. I collaborate with biostatisticians, geriatricians, rehabilitation and health service researchers, as well as start-up/small companies to investigate end-user friendly approaches using emerging health technologies.
